What is Smashball?

Introducing OPVC Smashball! Smashball is our exciting new program for younger players who are interested in learning how to play volleyball.  Through this program our youngest athletes will develop essential skills, compete, and play in an age appropriate setting.  With a focus on fundamentals and gameplay, OPVC Smashball develops the physical skills and knowledge base needed to participate in full-court volleyball.  OPVC Smashball program progresses through a number of levels that introduce new skills and concepts. OPVC Smashball is played on a smaller court (our pickleball courts at our facility), age appropriate rules so that players can keep up the intensity, engagement, and most importantly the fun of playing volleyball!

Why play smashball?

1

MORE ACTION . . .

This modified version of traditional volleyball uses a smaller court and only 2-3 players per side, allowing for a significantly increased number of ball touches for each player. Smashball also uses a lower net and a Lite volleyball, making it easier for young players to have more success on the court!

2

MORE LEARNING . . .

Experiencing more action on the court allows for more opportunities for each player to learn and develop basic motor skills. Smashball has five levels, and each level is designed to give young athletes the chance to work on an important volleyball skill by making the previous skill easier.

3

MORE FUN!

Traditional volleyball can be tough for young players because of the high level of physical coordination it requires. Smashball makes volleyball simpler and easier so that kids can find more success on the court, which in return helps them build confidence and remain engaged and motivated to play.
