Mike Berkemeier

Michael has been coaching volleyball since 2000 and was Hamilton’s girls’ varsity head coach in 2005 & 2006. From there, he was Fairfield’s boys’ and girls’ varsity head coach from 2007-2014 where he earned GMC Coach of the Year honors in 2011 and 2012. He also earned the South Region Division I Coaches Achievement Award in 2011 and the South Region Division I Coach of the Year in 2012. Since resigning as a varsity coach, Michael spent five seasons coaching for Cincinnati Attack primarily as a 14U-16U National head coach. While serving as OPVC's Boys Director of Coach and Player Development since 2019 and OPVC's Boys Director since 2021, Michael has led various training sessions, positional work, and he has had many top finishes with OPVC's 14-1 team (19-20) and their 18-1 Purple team (20-present). Outside of coaching, Michael is a father of three boys - Mike, Aidan, and Andrew (all of whom earned special volleyball honors this past year) - and he serves as the principal of the Fairfield Freshman School.
